Full Mouth Reconstruction Rebuilds and Renews Your Smile
Achieving a beautiful, fully restored smile and bite may not always be possible through a single dental procedure. If you are suffering from various oral health issues such as tooth loss, periodontal disease, bite misalignment, and other types of conditions that make it difficult to perform everyday activities such as eating and speaking, you may be a candidate for full mouth reconstruction. Dr. James Slaman, in Albuquerque, NM, can design a treatment plan to address your individual needs and help you achieve an attractive, functional smile. Dr. Slaman participates in ongoing training to stay on the leading edge of dental technology. He has trained with the country’s top dentists and employs precise, proven methods and decades of experience to ensure success with complex restorative cases.
Full mouth reconstruction follows a systematic treatment plan that requires careful planning and will be completed in phases.
Candidates for Full Mouth Reconstruction
If you are experiencing pain and other complications as a result of damage, decay, misalignment, or other aspects of a compromised smile, you may be a candidate for this treatment. Many patients who seek full mouth reconstruction have been suffering from oral health issues or from failing dental work for an extended period of time, and they like the idea of having a plan to comprehensively address their concerns. If you need extensive oral surgery, you should be healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. If you are an older patient, Dr. Slaman may recommend a modified treatment plan with less invasive procedures in order to reduce the risk of complications.
What to Expect
Full mouth reconstruction follows a systematic treatment plan that requires careful planning and will be completed in phases. First, Dr. Slaman will conduct an in-depth consultation with you in order to determine your dental needs and goals. At this time, he will discuss the type and number of procedures that he recommends, as well as a general timeline. To make this determination, Dr. Slaman will need to perform a thorough evaluation. He may use our GALILEOS ComfortPLUS cone beam imaging to take 3-D images of your jaw, as well use digital x-rays, photographs, or other imaging and tests. He may also evaluate you for temporomandibular disorder (TMD). Dr. Slaman places great emphasis on clear communication, and he will make sure that you have a thorough understanding of your treatment plan before beginning any work. Our office offers flexible financing options, including CareCredit and in-office payment plans, and you may also choose to discuss these with our helpful staff during this time.
Your treatment plan will focus on a select combination of restorative dentistry procedures to improve your dental function and oral health. Commonly combined treatments for full mouth reconstruction include dental implants (inlcuding All-on-4® implants), dental crowns, dental bridges, dentures, and periodontal treatment. Completing these procedures is also likely to improve your smile’s appearance. However, based on your individual goals, your plan could also include cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening or porcelain veneers to add a finishing touch and make your new smile really shine.
Dr. Slaman often includes dental bonding with full mouth reconstruction. The bonding material can reshape your teeth, strengthen them, and hide cosmetic flaws. He can also use dental bonding to stage reconstructive treatment and significantly reduce your costs. Throughout treatment planning, we can give you a preview of what your finished treatments will look like with cosmetic imaging software. Dr. Slaman can also provide temporary restorations for you to try on.
